We were so grateful to have that covered this year, so that we could really focus on his clinic visit and not have to worry about that piece of it. "When we heard about the PPMD annual conference in Orlando, we thought it sounded like an amazing, informational experience. However, being recently diagnosed with DMD, we were also really in the throws of some financial burdens....from the time taken off to grieve (a month for Joaquin's mom) and the onslaught of the first round of medical bills in addition to a midnight ambulance ride and an unforeseen surgery that Joaquin needed, we had to cut some things out so that we would feel comfortable financially. For us, this meant passing on the conference.
One day we were talking to a fellow DMD mom about what a wonderful thing PPMD was doing putting on the conference every year and she said we needed to go.
